What is an axle box?
An axle box is a special box that hangs under the axle of a truck or trailer. This optimises underbody space. Axle boxes are usually made of stainless steel and come in different sizes and configurations, depending on vehicle specifications and use. Axle boxes contribute to the stability and balance of the trailer, ensuring a smooth ride and safe transport of loads on the road. With axle boxes, drivers always have sufficient storage space when on the road. These boxes are often used to store chains, tensioning devices, or other materials. Lightweight axle box

As the axle boxes do not have an external housing, they are considerably lighter. This helps reduce drag for the vehicle, which is better for fuel consumption and the environment!
Fully equipped
Axle boxes feature a removable stainless steel strip for chains and shackles. Besides the strip for chains and/or shackles, customers sometimes also fit their axle boxes with anti-spray mats. Thanks to the added grid pattern, anti-spray mats can be mounted in no time at all. The axle box, which has been designed to maximise the space between axles, is mainly used for storing chains. This requires as much space as possible for storing your materials. The drawer is therefore fully extendible and can carry loads up to 200 kg.
Mounting an axle box
How an axle box is mounted, depends on the specific type and model of the axle box. Start by gathering the tools and materials needed to assemble axle boxes. Then find the right position to mount the axle box on the trailer or vehicle. Make sure the box is on a flat surface and is aligned with the rest of the vehicle. Position the axle box where you want it and make sure that all the holes in the box are aligned with the holes in the vehicle chassis. Check that the box is securely mounted and always double-check it before you head out on the road again.
Maintaining your axle box
Regular maintenance is essential for prolonging the life of an axle box. Clean the axle box regularly with water and a mild detergent to remove dirt and dust. This also prevents rust from forming. Also check the bolts and nuts used to attach the axle box to the vehicle regularly. You also need to regularly inspect the condition of the axle box, especially the welds, to detect any cracks or other damage. Make sure the axle box is never overloaded. Do this regularly to extend the service life of your axle box and ensure its safety and reliability.
